Hi all,

I'm a little confused - why would it say no calories were burned with strength exercises? I sure felt it, and I sweated, so how does it not count for anything??

Thanks!

  • Search strengh training in cardio, and enter how many mins you performed.

You have to enter it under cardio as well--look for a "strength training/weight lifting" entry and enter the minutes you lifted. That section is just so you can keep track of what exercises you're doing, how much you're lifting, etc. Be warned, though--it burns fewer calories than you want it to, but strength training is very important for a multitude of reasons.

Because MFP doesn't calculate strength exercises. Not sure why but it's pretty impossible to gauge how everyone will react to certain exercises not cardio. You really need a HRM because there's no good way to estimate what you "could be burning".

This blog explains why you shouldn't use your HRM for strengh training!

Thanks everyone! Makes sense I guess for keeping track. And yes, it is important, which is why I do it once a week and do aerobics twice a week. I don't want to carry around a HRM so it doesn't matter if it works or not. ;-)
