While delving through some old email I came across this - some sound advice for Christmas, Holidays; in fact any event where food & merriment is a focus.

Avoid the holiday kilos
Has this ever happened to you? Come January, all those mince pies and turkey drumsticks show up on the scales?
Why not make this year different, without missing out on the fun? Nutrition Australia offers this advice in staying both seasonal and sensible:
Now is not the time to start dieting. Limiting your food is a ticket to a miserable, not merry, you. Instead, be selective and have small portions of foods you really enjoy.
Alternating alcohol with water will reduce the kilojoules consumed and will also help you stay hydrated. Mix spirits with soda water or diet soft drink, or ‘spritz’ wine with some soda water.
Explore the lighter options among party foods. Try barbecued seafood, lean ham or summer’s heavenly in-season fruit options.
And, if you’re full, stop eating. Simple!
A few parties really won’t make you overweight. The key is to maintain a healthy diet and exercise regularly the rest of the year.
Cheers people - keep fighting - keep losing (or maintaining or gaining; whatever your goal) & keep smiling.
