Strive for Improvement, Not Perfection

I have recently adopted the motto "Strive for improvement, not perfection." It seems everything worth doing is difficult: parenting, maintaining a relationship, and losing weight immediately all come to mind. Each of them involve personal interaction unless you only eat alone. Today, I can do better than yesterday. Today, I can find a fun way to exercise with a neighbor or family member such as go for walk or work in the yard. Yes, I like to work in the yard. Today, I can drink more water. Today, I can eat dried cranberries and peanut butter on a rice cake instead of buying a candy bar. Fortunately, I have the first snack ingredients on hand, but not the candy bar. Also, when tempted to each, I can ask myself, "Am I hungry?" If I am not hungry, why am I reaching for food? I need to explore better ways to hand stress and boredom.

Great motto! Every day I have to make the decision to make good choices. For me after dinner snacking is the killer. Still working on how to solve that one successfully! :)
