I like to munch on fruits and veggies as a snack when I'm at home on weekends or even when I have to take a short lunch at work but I know lots of the dips can be high in calories (like the whipped topping for fruits, or a creamy ranch or onion dip for veggies). I know I can use a low-calorie dressing for veggies. But what other low-calorie dips do you guys recommend for veggies and fruits?

PS... I'm really NOT a fan of hummus so anything other than that please :o)

Yogurt, vanilla for fruit and plain for veggies you can add some seasoning to the plain like taco mix our onion soup or better yet green onions.

Well, since hummus is out of the question.. heh...

I like to dip my carrots in peanut butter. It's actually really good. High in calories? Meh. 1 tbsp of peanut butter with 3-4 oz carrots is a very respectable snack, even on a low calorie plan. It's generally a good idea to combine fruits/veggies with some sort of protein+fat source in a snack. Keeps nutrients more balanced and helps fullness better. I know if I only have an apple or some carrots for a snack, I'll feel both empty and bloated an hour later. Having some peanut butter or cheese with it, though, and my stomach feels considerably more satisfied and settled for longer.

I second yogurt for fruit, I had strawberries and honey greek yogurt for breakfast today, so delicous! You could also use some of the low-cal Jello pudding cups to make it more like dessert - I would go with the chocolate one... it would be tasty with pretty much anything... berries, apples, bananas, pears, oranges, etc. Those are only 60 cals for the whole cup.

I usually use hummus for veggies but you said you are not a fan, soooo maybe salsa? Which I know is already all veggies, but it's got a good kick to it!

Plain Greek Yogurt mixed with a teensy bit of Hidden Valley Ranch packet dressing makes for a great veggie dip. Yum! Greek Yogurt is very healthy too so you've almost got a meal there!

Yes! I came back to post guacamole cause I forgot it before, but you beat me to it. =) Not necessarily low-cal, but it is loaded with all sorts of good things for your body! =)

Wholly guacamole is the best, I like the spicy flavor and it comes in 100 calorie packs.

I totally forgot about peanut butter. One of my favorites!!! But I'm liking the plain yogurt with the ranch or soup mixes. I'll definitely try that!

    Thanks everyone!

I normally get a container of greek yogurt and mix in garlic powder, onion powder, and a little bit of seasoning salt. (Or any other seasonings you can think of!) That makes for a great veggie dip!
