Milk malfunction

Hi people. I just discovered today that the milk I've been putting into my coffee I have been underestimating every single day :embarassed:

I recommend you measure the milk you put in your coffee or tea just to check you are being accurate. For me I was allocating 50ml milk for my coffee in the morning and today when I measured my millk before putting it into my coffee it was actually around 120ml :noway:

Even skim milk has quite a lot of calories so I'm going to be extra careful with it from now on!! That said, I generally have 100-200 calories left over each day so I am hoping that has just meant I'm slightly closer to my calorie goal.

Anyone else have a momumental blunder like mine before??

A kitchen scale is your best friend. Just tare it out before you add cream/milk. Mine was only $15.

Sadly I have kitchen scales already

I just failed to realise that I should really use them for liquids too! I know better now though!

I always have the same problem with cream cheese! It's like a tablespoon all of a sudden becomes an unknown measurement! Thanks for the reminder :)

Scales aren't necessarily going to help with measuring mls - whish is a measure of volume not weight.
Better get some measuring cups/spoons marked in ml if you want to be accurate.
But, it's a good reminder that small things can add up, thanks.

I like my coffee very milky, so I've always put 1/2 cup into a Pyrex measuring cup and heated it up in the microwave for about 45 seconds so that my coffee doesn't get too cold. (Well, since I stopped using half and half every day anyway.)

But the kitchen scale has been a life-saver when it comes to fresh meats and fruits and vegetables. I was no good at guessing how big that apple really was. Lol

I weigh everything on my kitchen scale so I know it's exactly what I'm logging. It's far too easy to underestimate what you're eating. :)

Although I usually eyeball/guestimate, I do weigh or pay attention to packet serving sizes now and again.
The good news is that this can also work in your favour - I had been completely underestimating my pasta, there are actually less calories in the amount I serve myself that I thought

By the way knittnponder, that looks like a REALLY painful sunburn, I hope you can keep safely out of the sun for a while!

I went from being convinced by Dr. Schwarzbein that whole fat milk was superior to skim for weight loss & building muscle to using Heavy Whipping Cream from grass fed Jersey cows instead of milk. The weight is melting off, muscles are building themselves practically.

Just in case you are interested.
