Hi all,

Does anybody add lemon juice to their water for a bit of flavour? I loveee it, but just wondering if it has any benefits in terms of weight loss, metabolism, vitamins, etc...!

i add a little lime juice, it's basically the same thing, and im not sure but i think it helps speed up your metabolism and digestion. not sure though. i just add it because i hate the taste of tap water and that covers it up nicely.

It boost your metabolism. Try adding real lemon or oranges for a light refreshing boost to your water all day long

Not sure about any weight loss benefits, but sure makes the water go down better. I use lime juice instead of lemon.

I do sometimes.. The real thing is 1000 times better than bottled is.

Somebody told me it boosts your metabolism by 60%.. Not sure if it is true or not.

Lately I have been going to the farmers market around here and buying tons of fruits and vegetables including lemons. I take a pitcher of water and squeeze in 2 lemons, drop them in and then add about 4 packets of stevie the 0 calorie sweetener. It helps me to intake my 8 glasses of water a day and I don't count it at all since its a pitcher spread out over about 2 days. I love fresh lemon water :)

I don't know that it speeds up the metabolism, but I've read on reputable sights that the ph in it neutralizes soduim. I HAVE noticed that I never have swelling in my hands when I walk or run anymore, so i'm sure it's true.

I use lime myself for the flavour and sometimes cucumber. Very refreshing.
  • It flushes out sodium/water retention. :O) I do it reguarly.

I once read an entire article about a study that showed that lemon water can boost metabolism.

    Hi!

I have lemon juice every day, usually the first thing in the morning. I don't know where I heard about it, but I read an article that said to have lemon juice in the morning, right after you wake up. It somehow helps suppress my appetite to be honest, but that might just be a "me" thing.

The only drawback is that if you have "bad teeth" (prone to cavities) or have otherwise destroyed your enamel by throwing up a lot (from anxiety or an ED) you should avoid any and all citrus, and sour candies. These eat away your enamel and can really damage your teeth if they have any damage to them already.

I haven't heard anything about lemon juice on it's own or with water being extra helpful but I did read that adding citrus juice to green tea helps your body absorb more of the antioxidants from it! I have a green tea with a tsp of lemon juice every morning for the metabolism/cancer fighting benefits!

Thank goodness none of these apply to me.. I've been told that I will never get cavities. I got strong teeth from my father, the dentist told him that if he never brushes his teeth again he won't get a cavity
