Professional Body Fat Testing Cost?

Hey guys, I was just wondering, how much does it usually cost to get your body fat tested by a professional at a gym if you're not already a member? Do they even do that? I'd like to get it done professionally so I know it's as close to accurate as possible, but if it costs an arm and a leg noooo thank you. But if that's not even possible I don't want to sound like an idiot to the people at the gym...lol! Thanks!

I get the hydrostatic body fat test (relatively accurate) and that is usually 60.00. You can also get a DEXA test, but then you are looking at least 100.00.0

Where would you get a hydrostatic?0 -
The only places in my city that do the hydrostatic are the university and the biggest leisure center in town with pools/gyms etc. Regular gyms should have a biometric impedence scale and someone that knows how to do the calipers - both of these seem to be fairly inaccurate.0

Would it be any more accurate than my home measuring? I'm just using measuring tape and calipers and averaging the two.0

I was thinking the same thing a few weeks ago, - try to get the most accurate of all BF measurements.
I was looking for someone at my gym that could properly do a caliper test. My gym only had a very expensive impedence scale. I was looking for calipers online, but found out caliper testing is only decent when you have someone doing it with ALOT of experience - a slight misread can change the %'s dramatically (someone who has been properly trained and had done it several hundred times). I have a cheap scale that does impedence, I know it reads high, but the values are reasonably consistent. So if my numbers go down, I'm on the right track. Bottom line is whatever keeps you motivated and is consistent. I've decided to stick with my scale and the gyms - and see the numbers go down on both....(hopefully). There are a few sites online that show different people with different %'s of bodyfat as well, you could use as comparison to see if you're in the right ballpark.. I'm not bothering with the expensive testing0 -

I had a caliper test done by someone at my University who had been training in how to do them. I made careful notes of what they did and afterward went home and practiced the technique until I could get the same readings they did.0 -
my chiropractor uses an electronic bioimpedance test--he has done it for me at no additional cost above my regular appointment. He applies electrodes at various places on the body and the test takes just a few minutes.
