OK, so I guess I would categorize myself as a skinny fat person....not sure how else to put it. If you look at me, most would say I look fine and once I lose the next 10 pounds I am going to lose, I am going to hear "you are too skinny" "you are taking it a little to far". I have never been "overweight" according to my BMR, unless you take the times I was pregnant with my three babies. I have "flab" that could hang over my bra strap in the back and have "flab" the is on the back side of my thigh. How can I work my hamstrings and essentially have no flab legs without going to the gym? I hear squats and lunges....how many a day and do you move when you are doing your lunges? Like lunge down a hall way? I am also having an issue with my knee so I am banned from doing squats or lunges for atleast another month....if I am doing what I am told.

And now for my arms and kind f flab (loose skin) under my arm pit...what can I do? I am doing Turbo Fire, but have had to take a step back from it due to my knee. I am walking or Turbo Fire-ing everyday.

I have this vision of what I want my body to look like and want to make sure I can do it without the gym.

Yep, you can do it without the gym!

Last time I lost weight, I got down to about the weight I am now, but since I wasn't eating enough, I lost a lot of muscle and little fat. And one of the reasons I quit was because that damn back-fat was STILL THERE! I lost weight. I was smaller. But my body shape had stayed the same.

This time around, I'm eating a lot more, focusing on getting enough protein, and doing more strength training. And not anything crazy with it, either. I'm only using 5# weights (though I do need a heavier set... it's too easy) and EA Active Sports 2 on the Playstation, and my own body weight for pushups and planks and stuff like that.

And I'm happy to report the back-fat is GONE! I credit it to eating enough that I lost fat without losing much muscle.

I hear you chick. I was that girl that everyone watched eat crap and said, you're so lucky you can eat whatever you want and not gain a pound. And they were right. I was stuck at 145 and I'm 5'7". I never ever looked fat. When I decided to start losing weight people thought I was crazy. Some of my friends were even angry with me. I got jokes that I now have an eating disorder just because i'm more picky about what I eat. But I've lost 16 pounds and I feel great. I feel comfortable in my clothes. I don't have the back fat and the small gut when I sit down. My face looks better. And eating better and being active has made extreme differences in who I am. I have energy and clear skin and even my hair is softer and less frizzy.

Do this for you so you can be the person you feel good about. Thanks for posting this.

As you will read on the boards, you cannot lose fat from specific areas by working those areas. Your body decides where the fat will come off first. Of course when the fat does come off, those areas that you have worked will look awesome. Plenty of cardio and HIIT will burn the fat. The elliptical trainer is very gentle on joints and excellent cardio if you can find one somehow.

For thighs, all I know to suggest is lunges, which you can't currently do. As for the under arm flab, planks are good, as are pushups.

Thanks! I used the eliptical for the first time at physical therapy this week and burned a ton more calories in the 10 minutes they have me warm up my muscles than I did in the precious week(s) doing the bike! Now I wish I had one at home! I have the treadmill but have been told no more incline until further notice =( I am currently working on pushups "the guy way" instead of on my knees because I can't put weight on my knee like that. I did five tonight!!! BOO!!! But, it's a start!

I don't think anyone else would notice the flab under my arms, but I do =(

I will hit it hard with planks, lunges, squats, and pushups as I can.

I could very well be guilty of losing muscle instead of fat....just not sure. Once I am down to my 120's, I will experiment with eating food to keep muscle and lose fat.

Adding weight to those lifts will help tremendously. Although I do not know what is wrong with your knee, but doing squats correctly can fix knee problems and will actually strengthen your knees. Since I started doing squats I have noticed the following:
    - knees don't pop while squatting
    - no more lower back pain from sitting too long
    - marvelous thigh definition

I'm not suggesting to start doing squats against doctor's or whomever's orders, but definitely make sure you are doing them properly should you decide to start doing them.
