... are just wrecking any chance I have of staying within my calories!

Friday, we had an engagement party. I didn't have time to eat dinner before we left and ended up eatting the little friday appetizers for dinner. Last night, we watched baseball and played games with my parents and my brother. They made dinner. We hamburgers and hotdogs. I actually would have been within my calories or really close to it had I not tried every type of cookie they had!

I think we actually have a few weekends without any family events coming up, but really... having a big family is making this so hard! Then we have the holidays of course. How do you all avoid blowing your calorie budget at social events? If I was left to make my own choices about available food, I feel like I would be losing much faster, but life doesn't work like that! I know I can make better choices, but it didn't go very well this weekend.

Try bringing along a dish that is healthy that way you will have that as an option to eat. You dont have to avoid all the food at family gatherings, just avoid eating and eating and eating...Try a spoonful of each dish you like, and use a smaller plate.

If you know you are going to be at family events all weekend, watch your calories during the week very close and the morning of the events try to get in a good 20-30 min of intense exercise and after you eat, get a few members of your family together and go for a casual walk- dont think of it as exercise think of it as getting some fresh air!

The holidays can be full of temptation- but think of it like this- would u rather enjoy the short term pleasure followed by guilty feelings for eating 1/2 that pumpkin pie or eat a small slice and look great in a smaller pair of pants??? This is purely a self control thing, if you cant control how much and what you eat, then avoid putting yourself in those situations. Good Luck!! :flowerforyou:
