A question for my joggers/runners....

So I went for my morning run today and I experienced something different that really made it almost impossible to finish my run. As I was jogging I got a hot, burning, tense sensation from the main tendon in my left foot all the way up the left/front part of the muscle (I think it was the muscle) in my shin. Being a runner for a long itme, I have had shin splints before and this was NOTHING like that sharp, stiffening feeling. This was a cramping heat that went away as soon as I stopped running and started to walk. Any suggestions?? Anyone every had this before?? Know what it means?? How to stop it??

i've never had that--and i've been running for 3 yrs...but i will say, i have tendonitis in my leg and it's nothing to mess with. i would make sure to stretch and my dr. makes me heat my leg...stretch...and then ice it. it helps--if it gets worse, then i would def go to a dr. if you tear something--you may not be able to run for a while. hope it feels better soon :(
