Normally my husband and I exercise at night however today it worked better to workout in the morning but we found it harder to do it in the morning. Does anyone else have this problem?? Or does anyone know why this is?? But we pushed through it and I burned 688 calories.

I actually like morning exercise... it makes me really think about my food choices for the day! It was probably really hard as you had worked out last night before bed... and did you eat after or before your morning workout? Your body needs fuel to work out.
Studies say if you have a cup of coffee it can help you stay with a workout longer... maybe try that.
Kudos! You are working out, and burning! If you want to switch your time of day or change it up, you can do it. You proved it today!

I second that exercising in the morning helps me budget better throughout the remainder of the day. I hate when it's 5 o'clock and I feel like the only reason I'm working out is to earn some calories for dinner. I'd rather shave away at them slowly after I've technically earned them...0 -
Definitely NOT a morning person-- I'm usually running way after dark-- last night I didn't get home until 10:30.0
-
I normaly plan my meals the day before so I know how many calories I have left which leaves me free to exercise only when I feel like it.
I also do not eat all of my calories earned through exercise if I do not feel hungry.
This worked in my 1st week as I lost 2 lbs and am hopefully on track to lose the same this week.0 -
I am an afternoon exersicer. I start work at 6:30am and I just can't make myself get up any earlier than necessary to get everyone ready and where they have to be before I have to be at work. I do go after work, or some classes in the evening.
On saturdays though, I get to take step and body sculpt from 8 to 10am. I do like getting the exercise done, but it is sometimes hard to get there. I am a slow starter in the morning, and that makes it hard.
It is good to switch things up bit, variety helps with workouts. It might have been harder because it was so different from your normal. But it sounds like you did a great job anyway! WAY TO GO!0 -
It's called shocking the body. If you work out regularly in the evening, a morning workout is something your system isn't used to, thus making it seem much harder for the same workout. It is actually good for you to change up your workout times. This is also why you should not do the same workouts all the time but try different exercises.0

Fudgesicles-- so I gotta work out in the morning once in awhile? Blechh.0 -

OH please do be careful with that:flowerforyou: .....the not eating all your workout cals.... you might continue to lose but it won't be the fat lost it will be water or sadly muscle lost:noway:
I know sometimes it's hard to eat all the cals back but as you go along you'll find more calorie dense foods to choice from that are still healthy...such as nuts to fill out your days allotment or PB, things like that...that will be smaller in quantity as to not make you feel stuffed but will serve the purpose of gettings those every important daily cals back!:drinker:
All the 'diets'.....that circulate around always say don't eat when not hungry'.... but MFP isn't a diet it's a change of life for us all....it's about rethinking our eating and making food have less power in our lives.
:flowerforyou: Glad you're here & congrats on your loss thus far!!:flowerforyou:0 -

Very well said!! Great Points to heed...:drinker:0 -
I usually work out in the afternoon only once or twice a week, at different times, to shock the body. It definitely helps. It's supposedly really good for your metabolism to work out in the morning, but ONLY if you get the necessary six hours of sleep. I think it just depends on the person, but definitely mix it up!0

LOVE my morning workouts....love to get that metabolism zoomin for the full day....so as to keep the calories burning throughout!:flowerforyou:
I have particular instructors that are more intense than others so I usually switch my scedule up to match their teaching times....so 4 times a week it's very early morning....2 times it's an great afternoon workout....2-3 strenght training session mixed up in there.
All in all a good mixture....if I'm unable to do an early morning I pick up a 6pm class but do have a much harder time chllin out and slowing my energy level down for bed. Love that particular workout BUT....rough on getting to bed at a decent time...sooooooooo mcuh energy after each workout. I'm running around doing everything around the house when I get home..it's like my battery has been recharged!! ...that also determines when I go to the gym, if I get to much recharged to late in the evening.......WHEW.... a bit rough. :laugh:0 -

OH I totally agree on the sleep situation....I try hard to get enough if on my morning workout days...but if I can't then I put the workout off until later morning so my body gets all the rest it needs.
A better workout, a safer one and I think a more intense one if we're fully rested:drinker:0 -
1. AM exercise magnifies a positive hormonal response, working out later in the day will enhance cortisol and this is not a good thing before you hit the sack.
2. Food releases insulin which blunts fat burning. When you wake Insulin is at its lowest allowing the most fat to be burnt.
3. Cardio in the morning wakes you up and gets your body in action for the day, flushing out your lymphatic system and ensuring a flow of energy.
4. It will activate your lean and hungry adaptive mechanism which will burn fat and build muscle, especially if you have a fasted weights workout which hits your back and shoulder area.
5. Insulin sensitivity is further improved and fasting is prolonged which can have great health benefits….
These are some reasons you should workout in the morning.0 -

Thank you so much for putting it in 5 easy steps to understand why my body LOVES my morning workouts!!:flowerforyou:
This is something I'll save, maybe tape it next to my bed for those mornings that are a bit harder to get up.:drinker: No actually my body craves my 5am workouts...so although I will save the steps you shared....I rarely have to set my alarm, my body just wakes me up and says...'let's get MOVIN"...we get to go hang out at the gym!:laugh:0 -

YEAH, WHAT SHE SAID!!!0 -
Maybe I will try and do "morning" workouts more. I say "morning" because I normally don't get up right away. I get my kids off to school and then go back to bed. I go to bed late. But Im sure my husband would love if I started to go to bed with him at night. Thank you everyone!!!0
