Me vs. The Scale

Alright, I am having an ongoing battle with my scale. I think its crazy and it thinks I'm fat.
Background: I purchased the scale May 2011 because my old scale was unreliable. I could weigh myself minutes apart and be +/- 2 lbs. I also liked the fact that the new scale could calculate body fat %.
Then: It worked great. Measurements were accurate. I was off put a little by the body fat % because it does vary with hydration. Me and my scale were happily chugging along the road to weight loss.
NOW: The scale is faking my weight. I just know it. My clothes are looser, I have lost 2.5" overall, but yet the scale is weighing me 8 lbs heavier. I have been sporadically working out, but nothing that would justify an 8lbs of muscle gain. I physically FEEL great! But it is so disheartening to not see a lower number. For an objective opinion, I had kept my old scale to see how far off it was from the new one. In the beginning, the old scale weighed me lighter by 1-2 lbs. Now, there is almost a 10lb difference! Who do I believe???

Does your new scale have a "reboot" or "reset" button on the bottom? If so, reboot or reset it. Or it may need fresh batteries. You can try weighing something you know the weight of in advance (like a new bag of flour or cat/dog food) to see if it is weighing that item correctly. Also make sure you are on a flat, non carpeted surface. Hope that helps!0

I am about ready to smash my 30 dollar scale against the wall. I have completely stopped losing weight for 12 days (according to the evil scale) and I have increased my cardio, stuck to my calories, and NOTHING. I feel better, clothes feel much better now (more loose). So this morning, my demon scale gave me a new joy, it added a pound for my extra exercise efforts! So I can totally relate to your plight!0

I replaced the batteries, made sure it was on a proper surface and glared at it for awhile. I didn't locate a reset button, but I might if i unscrew the back cover.....
I haven't weighed my weights on it yet...that might be my next step. I (read my husband) own a set of 20lb weights. I could put them on their and see what it comes back with. I'm secretly afraid that it will come back with the proper weight. Yikes!0 -
Throw your scale away; they only make people crazy. Weigh once a month at the gym or a friend's house.
Work on exercise and staying on your calorie goal and the rest will take care of itself.
This is the best and most supportive advise I can give.0
