I have a bad knee: if I move wrong (which is easy to do) it dislocates. Along with that, it doesn't track smoothly. I've done some physical therapy for it, and I know the exercises that will help, but I was wondering if anyone knows of a good affordable knee brace that would help. I've tried a couple, but they have the whole for the knee cap, and that seems to put too much pressure on it and hurts, and they also limit my range of motion. I would like to get back into regular walking/jogging again, but I'm afraid to do too much because of me knee. I can use tape, but that's getting expensive since it doesn't stay on for long, and it's just a pain to do all the time. Any suggestions?

I use one called the Dual Knee Brace by Chopat. It does have a hole for the knee but there are adjustable straps above and below the knee cap so you can make it as snug as is comfortable. It also has a piece of rubber tubing inside the adjustable straps that puts pressure on the muscle above and below the knee and takes it off the knee cap. I've been able to exercise and gain strength in my knees by wearing these whereas before I couldn't do most things without it catching or buckling on me.

I started with the tan ones in a large but shrank out of them and bought some pretty purple ones. :D

ETA: They have a variety of other knee brace products if you look up on the drop down menu for the product list. On the left of the page for whatever item you're on you should see a list of issues that item is good for.
