Now What??? Am I just different

I started this journey at 250 January 1. Started on an exercise bike everyday and by mid-March I was 212. I was excited, and decided the bike was getting a little old and decided to start p90x. While doing the bike I was consuming a gross 1500 -1800 calories and netting around 800-1000. Under the dreaded 1200 number saying I must be doing it unhealthy.

I start p90x and my weight loss stopped. Ok, I have put on muscles and their showing in the mirror. However, I dont believe I am working on a 1 to 1 ratio. Also, very discouraging when your trying to lose weight first.

I have increased my net calories from 800 to over 2400 calories which means I am grossing at times over 3100 calories. and I am still not losing any ***sfafsdfa*** weight. When your consuming this much food your not dieting!!!

I have tried watching my sodium, increasing calories, changing workouts, increasing workouts, more food, more water, quit the crap food, more protein, follow the p90x nutrition plan, try this, try that. and I am at the same place. I even subtract my resting calorie burned from all of my HRM numbers. measure everything, all salt I intake is naturally in food. I dont season food while cooking. I have logged in 100+ days and log good and bad. Dont drink or smoke. Dont even like to eat out because of the sodium in restaurant food.

I feel I am not on a diet because of how much food I am consuming. I struggle many days to consume all of the food required to hit my calorie number. I eat constantly during the day, bfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack. Everything I eat I consume low sodium foods. (even if I was retaining water it would slow me down, but 4 months sorry)

Is it possible I have a body that operates on a very low calorie level and I should go back to what was working in January February? I have tried 1/2 pound loss, 2 pound, etc. I have tried different sites to get different calorie numbers.

I am training for the Tough Mudder in December and this race is going to be a killer. I ponder what to do, because I dont want to lose muscle strength before this race, but every pound I dont have to carry is a blessing.

I have seen so many post the same problem. Is it possible some dont follow the **1200** calorie level. Maybe some of our bodies dont have a switch that goes from healthy to unhealthy between 1199 and 1200. One of my MFP friends has lost 118 pounds since January and consumes a doctor monitored diet of 1000 calories.

At what point do you say screw the experts and go back to what was working. That was consuming a low net number under 1200 a day. what else do I try?

(Sorry I realize most of this was just rambling of frustation)

Every body operates differently. The "standard" is similar to an average.... Do what works best for you, your body, and your lifestyle.

I'm having the same issue! I've been reading more and more posts about people saying they were losing weight when they didn't eat their exercise calories back, so that's what they decided to go back to. I haven't heard their results yet. The only issue that concerns me about doing that, is won't you lose muscle mass and not fat if you don't consume at least 1200 calories approximately? I've only lost 8 lbs in the last 2 1/2 months and it's stablizing now. I'm at a loss as well! I really want this to be about getting healthy and an overall better lifestyle and well being, but I'd like the number drop too!

I may get attacked for this but, the more I eat the less I lose. I very rarely eat all of my exercise calories ( if I eat any at all) if I'm hungry I eat them if I'm craving I don't. There is a difference between actual hunger and craving and some people don't know the difference (this is a different topic lol). Anyway, if I eat my exercise calories I don't lose weight so I dont tend to eat them. I'm a firm believer that my body will tell me when I'm hungry and most days I eat around the 1200 (altogether calories) and I feel fine :) do what works for you! :)
