does the clock matter?

Ok so i try to be a good little dieter and log all my meals accurately each day but sometimes before I go to bed (if i still have cals left for the day) I will have something to eat. This is actually going to lead into 2 questions: !) I have always heard eating late is bad for you because you won't have any opportunity to burn off the calories, BUT what if you still have calories left that need to be eaten? Does that nullify the rule of not eating late? 2) Let's say it is around 1am and I am obviously still up and about to eat something... usually I go to the previous day and log it there (because I haven't gone to bed yet) since I still see it being the same day. Is this the wrong thing to do? Technically it is a new day but I figured my body doesn't know the difference.

I eat right up until I go to bed. It's a light snack...typically under 150 cals or less. It's not going to wreck things.
Our parents/elders put out too many myths. Science wasn't what it is today. I was taught not to eat before bed and to eat less. Pfffffffft!! I have to eat more and right up till bedtime and it's working just fine for me.
    Eat and don't fret it.

As for logging, I log everything on one day and it's not the next day until I wake up, regardless of the time. For me, it's usually 4 am when I go to bed.
