So sad. Because that makes obesity acceptable, and it's not.

Good thing I'm in Canada (although I doubt we're doing much better..)

A key fact that the article failed to mention is that in 1998 the US Government changed what it classifies as obese. This change in policy resulted in 30 million people be classified as overweight or obese overnight and without gaining an single ounce. This alone accounts for the large percentage of the increase in obesity rates.

In fact, the percentage of obesity has decreased since 1980.

BTW, I'm not trying to discount the issues related to obesity. I'm just pointing out how statistics can be molded to fit a particular cause, need or wish.

The good news is that all of us here on MFP are DOING something to get healthier. Kudos to each and every one of you!

I don't know about anyone else, but I've found that since I've joined MFP and decided to start this journey I've been more observant about this problem. I couldn't really see it before because I didn't want to face the fact that I needed to change. Now I want to run up to them and steal their chips, cookies and greasy McDonald's hamburgers and throw them on the ground. :-)
