jumped, head first

With 4th of July weekend, my husband and I hosted a pig roast and party with all our family, everyone bringing a delicious food to contribute. I figured, 'I'll just go this day in moderation, but I'll continue to count calories tomorrow', not wanting to have to miss out or feel like I was withholding for just one day, since I had done so well for the last month. And 'moderation' was good, it was do-able.
However, the next 4 days that followed were a whirlwind of eating, with spurts of sanity and 'moderation'. It's hard to want to get back on the wagon after jumping off, head first, into eating bliss. I love food, and so does my husband. We had been looking forward to this party for months, planning and organizing, since it was our first large family gathering at our house.
Purchasing a pig roast to feed 50 people, (and of course not wanting to run out during the party!) left us with, well, leftovers. Along with the pork, we had remains of a fruit salad, veggie tray, texas sheet cake, macaroni salad and excess of buns and rolls. I then realized, after several failed attempts to send leftovers home with family, why hosting the party can be so dangerous: because we have been eating party food leftovers for 3 days straight, ad nauseum,
So now I am crawling back to the band wagon, hoisting myself up and looking for the motivation to continue on again. I am waiting for the lifestyle change-mode to kick in from MFP habit, but it's not quite there yet.
I had sucess during my first month with MFP, NSV's too which were almost better :) I am hoping that, when the lingering thoughts of texas sheet cake are gone, I will be able to regain my enthusiasm again, starting with today.

    you can do this!
And I'm so sorry I didn't RSVP but my invitation got lost I guess ;)
Seriously though - sometimes it's good to take a quick break so that you can confuse your body, but more importantly, so that you don't burn out - come back on in - the water is fine - and we are all ready to support you :)

I can totally relate (minus hosting the party) I love to eat also... I too find myself straying... I want to do this and be successful but it is hard... Feels like on most weeks a take 2 steps forward then 3 steps back...

Hang in there, we CAN DO THIS!!!!!!

You can do it and if you need too, start giving food away to neighbors and or co-workers. I made cupcakes one day for my kids friends and when there were 3 left over and calling to me, I just threw them in the sink. I'd have rather wasted the food (and the $$ spent on them) them sabatoge myself which is what I would have done.

The only way to get motivated to get back on is to remember why you got on in the first place :) and remember all those NSVs, do you want to have to go through them again?

We've all TOTALLY done that before! Don't worry about it, just jump back in when you're ready. Maybe give yourself a starting day, then stick to it. You can do it!

I can relate, I go away once a month during the summer and for two days there is a snack table from 8 in the morning until 8 at night then bbq's both nights and bonfires with drinks and goodies. It is hard to resist and thus the pounds go on, but luckily now I know how to shed them just as fast, cut back and exercise more. Keep trucking on this you will make it......and the next time you need to get rid of lots of food just invite over the myfitnesspal gang, we'll all help :):)
