Does anyone have any suggestions on how to log The Jillian Michaels 30 day shred dvd?? I just started level 1... Wondering app how many calories burned doing the 20 min workout on level 1? level2? level3? I know I should probably go and buy a heart rate monitor but thats not possible for quite awhile because no stores in my town carry them!! Suggestions?? THANKS!

I was told to log it as circuit training, general.

I just logged it as "circuit training". For level 1, I used 20 minutes and then just upped the time a little for level 2 and 3 according to how much harder I though I had worked. But yeah, a HRM would be more accurate. I would say "under log" the calories burned and consider the rest bonuses! :)

You can get an HRM online. I actually bought mine from Amazon.com. This also gives you the advantage of reading reviews before purchasing. Curcuit training is pretty accurate though. I compared it with the calories burned when I bought my HRM.

I got my HRM off of Amazon.com using my debit card. It was only $72 and shipping and handling was free. It is a Polar FT4 and is even waterproof for use in the pool. If you don't have a debit card you can get one real cheap at places like Walmart that you can put money on to make online purchases. Maybe that is a possibility. You can log it as circuit training....but a HRM is much more accurate as it allows you to enter your specific info...height, weight, sex, age, resting heart rate....I have found MFP's exercise database to be either too high or too low on many things. I hope you can somehow get a HRM at some point. They are definitely a great investment.

I did the first day of level 1 today. I had to take a couple of short stops, no more than a few seconds. For the total time from warm-up to cool down I burned 217 calories. I currently weigh 250 pounds, so a smaller person may burn less. I was surprised it was so low for how hard I felt like I worked but I have seen a number of people using HRM with burns much lower than MFP circuit training would give you.

I guess my heart rate was working over time. Haha. I burned 282. I'm 229 @ 5'2. Lol.
  • Today was my first day doing it - was pretty sure I was going to die, be sick, and die again! Woo! As I also go to the gym, coupled with now doing this daily, I am hoping for the best :)
