Had a soy protein shake this morning and, during my previous diet I had one every morning. I run 6 days a week but, I am not running today because of a hurt foot. This got me thinking. If I am not running or working out that particular day, should I opt for a different breakfast?

you CAN choose to eat something else, but it really doesnt much matter if you do have the shake- your body still needs and appreciates the protein. totally up to you!

It might depend on the shake that you are taking. The shake I'm using I can use every day regardless if I work out. It's great for recovery but also an excellent meal replacement. The shake I use has only 90 calories (plus any added fruit and dairy) so it's low enough in calories that I can have it anytime!

The days I don't workout I just lower my calorie intake. My shake choice has a calorie of 150. So when I don't workout I just drink that with water (still tastes great, btw). When I do workout I drink that with almond milk and some fruit to bump it up to about 300. No matter what you want to try and get at least 120 calories per meal.

with a cup of fat free milk the shake comes to 235 calories or something like that, no sugar its unsweetened ( kinda tastes like baby formula but that's not important ) Usually I will have it only in the morning or for lunch if I am going out for dinner and need the extra room for calories. I had a trainer that said if you are eating protein bars and having shakes you need to be working out and I never asked if that meant you should only have it the days you plan on working out or just if you work out in general. Thanks for the insight :)
