I've been working really hard. I've been longing everything in. I've been working-out (and eating those calories too!) I have been going over lately but usually not more than 100 over, and NEVER more than 400 over...so why am I GAINING weight!!! I have been forcing myself to drink a lot of water (I don't drink anything else), I don't feel bloated, yet I'm gaining? At most I should be maintaining instead of losing...but NOT GAINING

ETA: I don't think it's muscle either because my BMI has gone up :grumble: according to the hand held thingy at the gym (yes it's a thingy!)

    There there, sweetheart!! :flowerforyou:

    Two questions:

    Are you measuring yourself?

    Do you own a HRM?

  You bet it is sweetie!!

One more question, do you measure your portions on the food?
  • Just hang in there Renae, and it will all work out. You have to be patient. Remember it didn't all get put on overnite, so its not going to be able to come off over nite either. I hope that doesn't sound rude. Yeah, I would suggest measuring yourself, rather than just basing it on the scale.

Is it possible that you are retaining fluid? I know that when I start back at the gym (especially if you are working out hard) that I retain fluid for a little while.

    Hang in there!

I gained 4 lbs when I started really focusing on diet and exercise. You body will need time to adjust to the new lifestyle.

remember sometimes it takes a while for your body to get used to receiving the food it needs on a regular basis to reset your metabolism after so many years of neglect :) I know the first couple of months I went through the ups and downs of doing everything right and not losing, but now the rewards are showing through :) stick with it, it will work.

There is a great articles in the Newbies section you should read about what your body is going through, and if I knew how to post it I would, I am sure someone else will direct you to it.

I measure all my food out like a mad women

I'm probably upset mostly though because I just ripped the bottom of my jeans out too :frown:

I really want a HRM but that's going to have to wait til Christmas (along with a new pair of jeans) since our budget is so tight while we save up to go home. So I just go off of what the machine says or the caculator on here.

I'm just going to have to crack down on my calories and make it a point to not go over by more than 50! And see if in two weeks that makes a difference. I don't have that much more to lose overall so I know it's going to be harder and slower than the first 15 pounds of someone who is trying to lose 200.

I just need to keep my head up and push harder!
  • Renae- you are in the almost exact positon i'm in. i've been trying to get past this 150 mark since july!!!! Granted, i've skrewed up many times and haven't really taken it that serious. But lately i've been trying and it's so frustrating to work and work and not see that darn scale move at all. And the last time i measured myself i was up or even with most of my measurements that i took at the BEGINNING OF THE SUMMER!!!!

But....hang in there, i am, and keep you head up. I like you're idea of doing something different, that's what i'm going to try this week is add a little cardio into the mix and see what happens.

Good luck!!!! (And if i can do it, and keep doing it, you can too!)
