What foods are you guys eating to up your protein intake other than straight meat? I'm already doing a whey supplement, but man carbs are everywhere!! Grocery day is coming up and I'm looking for some fresh ideas.

Babybell light cheese, nuts, nut butters, protein bars (like Luna bars - I just had one and it was delicious), hummus has some protein,
But I'm looking for more options as well!
**Edit** Cottage cheese is also good!0 -
That sure is a challenge!
String cheese... avocado... almonds... just to name a few. I'd love to hear other suggestions.0 -
Total 0% fat free greek yogurt is fairly low in carbs, also things like shredded chicken/low fat ham are carb free and high in protein. Sometimes I'll cook a steak and chop it up into tiny peices, put them in a box in the fridge and nibble at them. Egg whites are also good.0

Try plain, fat free yogurt, it changed my life when I made the switch from the flavoured kind! And it always seems to up the protein for me!0

hard boiled eggs. hands down, my favorite snack.
i actually, sometimes, put some frozen peppers and a hardboiled egg in a container... add some garlic salt and cayenne... and make an "egg salad".0 -
I'll eat some 2% cheese squares, a tablespoon of natural peanut butter with celery(gotta get that fiber too!), some nuts(usually almonds or peanuts)0

It's not the best food for you but I love jerky! it's a quick snack fairly low carb/low cal/low fat high protien! I love to get buffalo chicken jerky (walmart) and dip it in ff ranch!0

Tyson grilled chicken chunks are lean chunks of grilled chicken breast. Very high in protien and low carbs. Easy to take a serving with you in a snack bag. I also will make a quick tuna salad with only yellow mustard, relish and celery salt. Very high in protien and no fat from mayo because I don't use it0

I have several snacks I rotate out (I eat 2 snacks per day).
1 slice low fat Swiss + a piece of fruit or raw veggies
1 c plain Greek yogurt with a couple of packets of sweetener
16 raw almonds
1/4 c hummus + cut veggies
1 c low fat milk
1 Morningstar patty (usually mushroom burger or pizza burger)
These are all around 100-150 cals. For the most part, they're fairly low sodium as well. Of course, sodium amounts can vary depending on the brand of hummus or cheese, and the Morningstar patties are going to have more than the other snacks, etc. Still pretty healthy stuff.0 -
I'd like to hear more too.0

Nuts and nut butter, string cheese, laughing cow cheese wedges, yogurt, beef or turkey jerkey, sliced ham or turkey, eggs, protein bars.
My favorite snack if 2% string cheese and cherry tomatoes- less than 100 calories for a great snack!0 -
apple dipped in peanut butter or peanut butter sandwich.0

Carbquik!
I'm loving this stuff. It only has 3g of protein, but just 2 net carbs (14 fiber per serving). Make some biscuits or pancakes with this stuff, and top it with nut-butters or cheese for extra protein.

Can't really find it in stores yet, but you can order it online.0 -
I'm big into organic foods, my suggestion is a loaded protein shake:
- Organic Egg Protein Powder, V: http://www.giftedearthoriginals.com/Vanilla_Shake_Info.html
- Whole Food Organic Almond Milk
- Organic Banana & Strawberry
- Organic 365 Almond Butter0 -
EAS Advantedge carb control ready to drink shakes are a good grab and go snack for when you are short on time! Low in carbs with 17g of protein and only 110 calories.0
