Can you please tell me if it's accurate and if you are pleased with it? I purchased one today, but not sure if I should take it back and get something else. I wanted to get a Polar but I do not want to only have the option of wearing a chest strap.

Pro's and Cons Please.

Thanks in advance

I don't have this HRM, but I can tell you that not wearing a chest strap will not get you accurate calorie burn. With a watch only version, the only time it gets you're heart rate is when you are touching the watch vs one with a chest strap that is constantly feeding your watch the heart rate.

If I were you, I would return it and get a Polar. I have the Polar FT7 and it is the best investment I ever made. After awhile I don't even notice the chest strap.
  • I actually purchased a Polar first and I really liked it, except for that fact that you have to wear a chest strap for it to work. The one I have now id a duo. You can use it with or without the strap, I just have a feeling that this brand is not going to be good. I didn't think that I would want to wear a chest strap all the time, especially because it was pretty darn tight. Now I'm thinking that I should have kept the Polar. They were the same price. Once they are open you cant return them though (at least thats what they say) they let me return the Polar because I didn't know that you had to use the chest strap to make to work and because it was so tight on me. Hopefully they let me return this one too. I don't know what to get. All the reviews rate Timex and Polar as the best.

No, do not get a Timex either! Timex's over estimate on their calorie burn a lot! I had one before I had my Polar, and it told me that for 30 min of walking on a treadmill at the highest incline at a speed of 3.0 that I burned 581 calories.. I was like uh, I think not!
My Timex was open and I just re-packaged it and returned it to best buy with no problem.

When you buy you're next HRM, look at heartratemonitorsusa.com. For the Polars, they let you have the option of buying a smaller or bigger strap and maybe that would help. You really do a need a chest strap if you want an accurate calorie burn.... If you don't, you're just better off using MFP or the machine that you're working out on.

I just got a Polar FT7 and I love it. It's easy to use, seems accurate, does what you need it to without being overly complicated, and the chest strap is washable. I would definitely recommend it.
  • They accepted the return on the Sportline. Back to square one, guess I'll shop around online. Thanks all.
  • I ended up purchasing one locally. I decided on the red and silver ladies Polar FT7. Thanks everyone.
