so i have bad knees. not so bad that i can't exercise, but bad enough to be leery of certain exercise dvds. i used to LOVE jillian's 30ds, but had to give it up bc it aggravated my knees like crazy. anyway, i bought turbofire but am a little concerned about how it will impact my knees, esp the HIIT workouts.
is there anyone w/ knee problems who's been able to successfully do turbofire? btb (by the by) i'm currently training for a 10mile race, i'm at a 14min mile, so i CAN do cardio. and my knee pain is in check while training for the race. but i want to add turbofire as part of my cross training.
so....my ppl with knee pain, how have you managed with chalean?

I wouldn't advise doing Turbo Fire for you. I'm also a runner and though I love Turbo Fire but when I'm in full running mode (4-5 days a week), TF is too much cardio for me, particularly if you're doing any HIITs. I also have a bad knee and the impact from some of the landings causes me a great deal of discomfort. It was affecting my running quite a bit, so I chose running over TF. I do a HIIT workout every once in a great while, and I do use the Stretch 10 and Stretch 40 DVDs, as well as the strength DVDs, but the HIITs, Fire and Fire EZs are too much. Might be worth getting in your "down" running season (if you have one) or getting just to do every once in a while, but I personally wouldn't advise doing the program as it's written out.0

I dont have the best knees either, but I found I had a LOT more knee pain doing the 30DS than turbo fire. There is a lot of movement involved, but as long as you can pivot on your feet, you should be ok. This being said, I dont know the degree of your pain or injury, but that is my personal experience.0

In every TurboFire class there is some one who does the modified version, which is no jumping. Rather she will do leg lifts, etc. to lower the impact. So in all actually you could successfully do TurboFire, and I highly suggest it. It is such an awesome workout and keeps you wanting to exercise.0

She has a girl up front with her the does low-impact versions of all the exercises!! So you could totally still do it.0

yeah, i've made running my primary cardio since my race is in october and i am a true novice. i'll wait to try turbofire until after teh race. i don't want to overload my knees! i saw that there was a low impact chick for the tf classes. we'll see how it goes when i start up. it'll be perfect timing though. i'll be doing turbofire as the end of year holiday season starts!0 -
I'm not sure about the OP, but I'm not the type of person that can do the "low impact" version of anything. I'm always in competition with myself to kick my own *kitten* and do the best I can, so the version where your HR doesn't get as high and you're not drenched in sweat isn't for me. I just see it as the "sissy version", but if that's the version you have to do, then do it. Running is better for me, so that's what I do. Just my .02 though.0

That's why I got Turbo Fire over this past winter, when I was only doing runs on the weekends due to poor light and icy roads (and no treadmill option). Good luck with your training!0 -

that's EXACTLY why i took up running. working out is all about goin hard for me! i want the sweat, the soreness. basically i'm chasin the exercise high ;-) i didn't want to do turbofire while running unless i cld go at it hardcore and NOT destroy my knees in the process. i'll just do pilates for now to help strengthen and tone while training for the race. then i'll jump into turbofire to push me toward my end goal. i have 39lbs left to lose so its not like i won't have a need for turbofire in the future, lol :-) thanks for everyone's advice, much appreciated!0
