I am happy with my current HRM for the most part, but when I go swimming, it loses signal all the time. Any HRMs out there that you can rely on in water, whether it's chlorinated or salty?

My Polar FT4 works good in water as long as I tighten the strap really good. Haven't tried it in salt water but has worked in natural water and pool water.

what kind of HRM do you have? I found out that my Polar FT60 is water resistant but that I needed a special coded strap specifically for water if I wanted to use it while swimming. That might be what is wrong with yours. it's probably water resistant but not made to transmit through the water.

Yeah, it is water resistant but won't pick up the signal in the water. The special strap thing is very helpful to know! Thanks!

I have the FT4 as well and it won't work in salt water, but it works great in chlorinated or just lake water.
