Hello all. My name's Thomas, I am 26 and according to my standards, slightly over weight (10lbs or so). I have recently started working out daily again, as I took about 8 months off from doing much of anything. I have a desk job, and I try to get up and walk around once in a while to keep my metabolism working. I am currently facing injuries with my knees and right hand. I can lift no more than 15 lbs right now and can't do any impact lower body. This limits what I can do at the gym, so for the time being I am focusing on cardio/weight loss rather than building. I used to be able to eat whatever and never gain weight, but as I got older (even though Im not that old) that changed. So, mostly I am here to help motivate myself to keep going. My current workout is 30 minutes a night (I like going to the gym after work rather than before) on the elliptical at level 10. I use the aerobics setting to work on my breathing better (as I also have asthma). My plan is to each week increase my time by 10 minutes until I get to 60 minutes. Beyond that, I also plan to increase the level by 2 each week until I eventually max it out. I go to the gym 5-6 times a week, and since it is non-impact there is little to no effect on my body aside from directly after the workout. I also do stretches for psyical therapy of my knees. My goal is simple, weight loss followed by maintaining that level of fitness. My goal weight is 170-176lbs, I am 5'10" and currently at 192-196lbs. My biggest problem is my diet, I eat a lot of sunflower seeds daily, and my meals arent always the best as far as calories go. I am a picky eater, and I love steak, burgers and bread. i eat only the beef part of the burger though, no bun or dressings. Anyhow, this is a long intro, mostly an outline of my plan rather than intro, but I'm interested to know if people think I am going in the right direction for this. I look forward to hearing what some of you have to say and to keeping motivated by using this site.
