I don't know about you guys, but I know that I tend to relate to the music as I'm exercising. I tending to go for songs that remind me of who I was. It pushes me into gear to be who I WANT to be.
For instance, this excerpt from "Lover Dearest" by Mariana's Trench:
I'll just hide it, or I could slip into you,
It's so easy to come back into you.
Sometimes I think that the bitter in you,
And the quitter in me,
Is the bitter in you and the quitter in me.
The bitter in you, and the quitter in me,
Is the bitter in you and the quitter in me.
The bitter in you, and the quitter in me,
Is the better in you and the quitter in me,
Is bigger than the both of us.
It reminds me how easy it is to slip into old habits, so as I'm peddling on the stationary bike, I peddle harder, feuding with myself, "NO, NO, NO! I WILL NOT BE A QUITTER!"

I mostly like songs with a good dance beat-- #1 on my playlist is the Bob Sinclar version of Everybody Dance Now.

People = **** by Slipknot reminds me of all the people who told me I was too fat growing up... it's a kick in the *kitten* to get moving.
Otherwise I have a playlist of 100 Rock Songs of the 90s that I dig when walking.0 -
I'm completely the same. Don't get me wrong, sometimes all I want is a beat and something that makes me go faster. But, I like to hear lyrics as to why I am doing what I am doing. I find myself listening to the most unexpected music on the treadmill.
