I have seen a common trend in people saying their knees couldn't handle it. Any tips? I am starting today and weigh 217

I was at 209 when I started it the 1st time, it sucked, but I lived through it
no pain

I weight 207. It does suck.... but it's totally doable. However, if it is the first exercise you've ever done, I would start with something else first.... But, if not, good luck!!

I'm 213 at the moment and on L2D6. I found L1 a bit tough on my knees and I've had three operations on them in my teens due to wear and tear on the cartilage, so they're worse than most! I also walk miles and miles each day, so that wouldn't help either, but it's certainly survivable and level 2 is presenting me with no knee problems0

Im doing it! I weigh 222. Sometimes I have to do the modified version but its a great workout!0

A lot of people do not pay attention to how they do lunges. And if not done right it can really cause some pain in the knees. Start out easy and ease your way into it. Modify when needed at first until you feel comfortable :0)0

That certainly counts. Way to go!!0 -
I started in the 240's my results are linked in my siggy, below! Loved the program0

I was around 185 when I did it (I'm only about 5'3), and it did hurt my knees, but not to the point where I had to stop. I would suggest doing the lunges more slowly to be sure that you're keeping good form. Also, I found it helpful to stay in one direction, rather than doing the pendulum lunges. After I finished my original 30 days, I started to alternate the 30 DS workouts with Turbo Jam so my knees had a rest in between. So you can always alternate with something else, rather than doing the 30 DS every day.
One more tip...be sure to take measurements before you start. I remember being so upset that I wasn't losing any weight, but I did go down a full pant size!0 -
I started at 241 pounds with a herniated disc a degenerating disc and crackling knees! It was painful and it hurt my knees and it hurt my back and I felt like I could not do it everyday! I stumbled, I cried and hurt but you know what I am now down to 190 and I feel AMAZING!! YOU CAN DO IT! Don't make excuses for yourself get up and DO IT!! Find something you like to do that is not to painful until you get more of the weight off. I did Zumba which is dancing also yard work and now ripped in 90 days is what I am doing! If I can do it so can you! If you are hurting to the point of not being able to move go to your doctor but I know for a fact they yelled at me for running and lifting weights and sit ups and pretty much anything that I did could injure my back further!. I put it to myself this way if I kept going at the rate I was going I would either be in more pain from weight or I would die because I was so fat! I just kept gaining from my back pain cause I could not move! Like I said it hurt and I cried but now exercise is not so bad on me anymore 50 pounds later! Good Luck!! Work hard and you will see results!0

Thanks for the inspiration. It always helps to hear others who have and are suffering right along with you. No pain no gain.0 -

I did ripped in 30 for 3 weeks then got sick so stopped, now I am biking, walking, and running mostly now that the weather has turned nice.0 -

Great, I try to walk a lot, of course I am no where near running yet. I want to try c25k to get me going. My goal is to reach 199 and then start that. Need more weight off my knees and feet first. I have plantar fasciitis and that makes me wanna die at times.0 -
I'm right at 230, I started it on July the 4th. No knee problems here. You can do it!!0

I got knee pain after 5 days of doing the shred, but I found the website below - I didn't use any of the tips because I didn't go back to the DVD after I took a break to recover.

Thanks it was hard and sometimes you just have to do what you gotta do. Each person is there own and will only go as far as they can or wish that is why I don't get upset with people who don't push as hard crazy as I do. It was my choice against Doctors orders and I am doing great! It could have gone terribly wrong for me but someone upstairs is looking out for me0
