Okay...I get home at 4:30, grab a healthy snack on my way out the door to football practice with a 9 yr old who wants to go to Sonic afterwards. I had already logged my calories for the day (including my dinner) so I was pretty much done. Then my son (the 9 yr old who doesn't understand the word diet) puts in on me to eat with him at sonic. My daughters were at another game, hubby was in the deer woods, and here it is....time to bond.....AT SONIC So I ate a Jr Cheeseburger, onion rings, and a small soda. I knew that if I took away the dinner calories already logged, that would free up about 400 cal, so I thought I could get by, right?:noway: I didn't complain, I just ate the food and "pretended" that it was the best idea my son had all day!! So I get home to log what I had and the stinking onion rings were 500 cal:explode: That put me over 260 calories (YIKES) Here's the goodness of this: The old me would have threw in the towel and give up, no kidding! Just one mistake and it was over, but I stepped back and took another look at my goal and who I was striving to become, I stepped into the gym clothes, drug myself to the elliptical in shame and burned 310 more calories. That's the NEW me. I'm still on track and I don't feel the guilt that would have overcome me had I not done that! It's all about choices...we can make mistakes, but we also have the power to correct them! I just wanted to share my evening with you and hope that it helps someone who still has time to make the day right! YOU CAN!:flowerforyou:

Wow you really have changed your entire attitude by the looks of it! Good for you. I find myself doing the same thing. This is the longest I have ever stuck to anything.
Today I told me BFF that I was afraid I would stop exercising, and fall back to my old ways. I feel so good when I am done, and fear losing that.
She advised me she will NOT let me do that, she will call me everday when she exercises and get me to do even one pushup!
Now that is a true friend!0 -

Yay! Awesome for you! Maybe next time you can pack a meal in the morning when you know you'll have a football game...a meal for you and your son...I know you said that he doesn't understand the word diet...but maybe packing a healthy but fun kid-friendly meal for you guys to share would give you the bonding you both want without the extra calories...then he'll be started on the right path so he won't have to fight the battle of the bulge when he gets older...0 -
That's awesome, clewliss. Love yourself through the process of becoming a happier, healthier person. The shame can be banished, because you are beautiful inside and out. As my own VBFF (very best friend forever), I am trying to not shame, blame, and otherwise judge my actions too harshly.
Not always easy. But it is a process! :flowerforyou:0 -
That is awesome! I can imagine it felt much better to have overcome and adapted rather than give up! Yea you! Keep up the good work!0

Please remember, you were 260 calories over your recommended daily limit.
YOU ARE STILL UNDER YOUR DAILY BMR, right? Which means you are still have a deficit for the day! You're still on track to lose weight, just at a much slower speed for today.
Enjoy that time with just you and the boy. One meal will not kill your "dieting" plans.0 -

Getting on the elliptical was such a great thing to do! Whenever you start hearing those negative voices in your head (at least, I hear them anyway!) telling you that you are going to fail because you always have, you can point to this kind of success and say, "I USED to be that way, but I'm choosing to be different now!" The only choice we can make that will make us fail is the choice to give up and quit.
And next time you go to Sonic, you'll be armed with the knowledge that those onion rings are a frickin 500 calories and decide if you really, really want them enough to work for them. Or you can get one of those REALLY super yummy Santa Fe grilled chicken salads with some low fat dressing and enjoy the time and feel good about what you ate, too.
So ... YAY YOU!!! :drinker: :flowerforyou: :drinker: :flowerforyou: :drinker:0
