Newly Inspired...

Hi there, my name is Jodi and I live in Alberta. I just found this site when I started the couch 2 5k program this last week. About a month ago I exchanged services with a gal in town who runs an outdoor bootcamp. As a single mom of four and photographer this seemed like a good way to reclaim some of the fitness that I once had. I was shocked. The first bootcamp was a clarity kick in the hiney!
In the last 15 years I was a skydive instructor, hockey goalie and loved being as fit as possible. There I was, supposedly the same person, at bootcamp with women of all ages and my 14 year old beside me and I was sweating like never before, I couldn't breathe and don't even get me started about doing crunches! My abs were MIA. Gone, well not gone, they exist but well, they had checked out at about pregnancy number 3... I would have been embarrassed but I was in too much shock at how far down the fitness ladder I had slipped to even have the energy for that! Instead, I decided then and there that this is just the start of my new journey to reclaim the person I was prior to my marriage. I am climbing that ladder and it started that day. I have lost almost 10 lbs to date (3 this week) and have the bug big time.
My oldest daughter is a constant inspiration to me. She is the most driven athlete I have ever seen. She has played hockey with the boys for 10 years and in order to stay in shape in the off season, has decided to try track & field. When I watch them practice and push as hard as they do and run at the high level that those kids all do, it made me realize that I can do whatever I want to. On her off days for track, Maddie is beside me pushing me and encouraging me at bootcamp... Her commitment to fitness helps me daily. Am I allowed to brag? She is just such an amazing girl. All of my children are and we have different connections each of us, but Maddie and I are about the sports.
So this is me, this is why I am here. If any of you feel like keeping this gal inspired by your stories and successes, feel free to add me as a friend. I hear it is always easier in groups!!
Oh ya, I am long winded too!

I loved what you had to say also. My girls are an inspiration to me, too. They're 8 and 10 years old and compete in tennis with boys and girls older than them. I recently began taking tennis lessons so that I can play with them. I find it really difficult to keep up but I'm getting better. I can at least return a ball now. Good luck with your fitness goals.0
