Yes they contain calories, fat and sugar. I use Body Fortress Protein Shots because it only has 110 calories and no fat or sugar with 26 grams of protein.

Protein shakes do have calories not sure if you can find any that don't. The powder I use is around 100 depending on flavor. I cannot drink them with water (don't like the taste) so I do it with either milk or gatorade. You can add to juice too it just depends on what you prefer. I just do the typical powder with liquid that way I can take it to the gym and start drinking it as soon as I finish my workout. I have a blender cup which is really cool so you just shake it up when you are ready to drink it. HEB grocery stores carry these cups but so does GNC. There are all different flavors you can get or there is even non flavored. My trainer gave me the website for a place that so far is the cheapest I have found www.nutrabio.com. Also, he told me to get the 100% Whey Isolate and told me not to use any of the others but I couldn't tell you why. So far I have had the chocolate, strawberry and wild berry and they are all good.

I'm using one called SCI-MX Lean Grow at the moment, but only after a training session (so every other day). This one gives approx 54gms Protein per shake. Look at the reviews on sites like Amazon etc to see if people benefit from taking it. Personally I think it works for me. Its like anything else though, you get out what you put in, so you need to really work your muscles to get them to grow. Remember to have rest days between sessions to allow your muscles to regroup. The calorific content of the shake I mentioned is approx 380 calories per 400gm shake (mixed with water). Good luck!

There are some without fat and very little, if any sugar. What I use has about 100 calories, 43mg sodium, 85mg potassium and 25g protein, <1g sugar, 1 carb.

Where do you purchase these at? Are you using it as a meal replacement?

I love Herbalife meal replacement shakes, they have 24 grams of protein, less than 300 calories, and there are hundreds of flavors!

Of course they have calories, I bought some from GNC that have 200 calories per shake. Strawberry and vanilla. They are ok; they are better with fruit in them.

I use protein shakes and it definitely helps with recovery, meaning I can workout every day (pretty much) I was achy for a good 3 days before I started using them. It also really helps me reach my protein goals with my 40/30/30
I use the My Protein Website, I first used the Elle diet protein in strawberry which was yummy but pricey and I was scared to take it at night because of the caffeine, I'm quite sensitive that way.
Now I take unflavoured soy protein isolate in the morning with alpro soya light milk (I bought 3 different bottles of their no carb no calorie flavouring, so I could change it up a bit) and their chocolate impact blend whey protein later in the day.
Both work out under 200 calories and 35-40g protein.

Edit: Oh and I do believe that the protein is helping me get firmer and more defined more quickly!! (probably mostly due to how often I can work out)
