I wake up at 5 to workout I was just wondering if it is okay to have a snack immediately before my workout and if so what can I have that wouldn't give me cramps or hinder my workout. I ve read that working out with an empty stomach is bad and from previous experience it makes me feel light headed and shakey

I like to have a slice of wholewheat toast with some peanut butter, or a piece of fruit.0

I like a bowl of cereal, something with lots of fiber... but that's just me! I've also done oatmeal and it works great!0

Maybe a breakfast bar? Everyone is different, but those might be ok for you (and low in calories).0

When I run early in the morning I have a cup of coffee and a date before I workout. It gives me the perfect amount of energy for my workout and holds the tummy grumbles at bay until I finish.0

What my gym trainer recommended is to eat breakfast then wait about 1 to 1.5 hours before working out. He also said that if I can't wait that long than an orange and some almonds would be ideal.
Never on an empty stomach though, because you will need some sort of fuel and if your body does not have food then it will start using your stored sugar and muscle as fuel. Hope that helps.
