I would appreciate any imput ~and advice about trying to Prevent Bloating. I do love my water & ice tea .I'm wondering, if all that I drink in a day will bloat me.... All the info you read and hear, states to drink Alot of water. I am an avid walker and I do Curves. I have never been a cereal eater. But recently decided to try Kashi Go Lean, because of the fiber and protein. I add frozen fruit it taste good, and leaves me satisfied I'm thinking it tends to give me a bit of excuse me for saying but gas. I don't think I like that !
I usually drink a Slimfast before I do my walk. I would like to hear from All of you out there who can give me any advice on Preventing the horrible BLOAT ! I'm not so sure there is a cure for it, besides the obvious causes. Thanx !

  • I read once that if you start introducing alot of fiber (in cereals and other sources) your body reacts by producing gas at first, but it will readjust to the new higher level of fiber in your diet and those pesky side effects will subside.

    avoid salt
eat more fruits and veg, drink more water
maintaining a low calorie diet for to long tends to increase water retention.

    for bowel bloat
    eat smaller meals
    dont exercise right after eating

The Jillian Michael's detox drink really helps with bloating and water weight. It can help you lose up to 5 pounds in a week, depending on how much what weight you have.

I just read a great article on this in Woman's Day. It says that you should cut down on eating frozen dinners and processed foods. This includes canned soups and vegetables, bottled salad dressings, condiments and sauces. They are high in salt. Pasta and other carbohydrates. Every carbohydrate that your body stores attracts three times as much water as protein does. Sugar-free desserts that have been sweetened with sugar alcohols such as mannitol, maltitol, and sorbitol can cause gas (and bloating) because these alcohols are hard for your body to digest. Some deflation devices are:
-Eat veggies cooked instead of raw. Cooking helps break down some of the fiber so your body doesn't have to work as hard to digest it.
    -Don't combine high-gas foods with high-fat foods
    -Go easy on starchy beans
-Exercise at least 30 minutes a day.
-Eat slowly and chew your food thoroughly

If you feel bloated or gassy:
-Try drinking giner, peppermint, or fennel tea
    -Take a walk
-Drink a glas or two of water

    Hope this helps!

I have been having that same issue the last week or so. I drink around 120 oz of water a day, I don't eat processed foods or bottled condiments with exception to my Light Ranch ( I refuse to give this up!) I workout 6 days a week for 1 hr and I feel blah right now. I guess my body is going through more changes right now. But it is not a pleasant feeling!

Well, here's a list of foods that can cause bloating/gassy:

VEGETABLES: broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, collard, turnip and mustard greens, kale, and onions

LEGUMES: beans (red, pinto, kidney, etc), Lentils, and peas

WHOLE GRAINS: barley, Oats, wheat (pasta, bread, cereal)

SWEETS: fructose (granulated sugar, honey, high-fructose corn syrup, agave syrup), sugar alcohols (sorbitol, maltitol, mannitol, used in sugar free gum, various nutrition bars, and many diet/sugar-free candies, cakes, and cookies)

FIBER SUPPLEMENTS & ADDED FIBER: Inulin (found in Fibersure), psyllium (found in fiber supplements such as Metamucil, Konsyl)
