    VLCD? Very low carb diet?

You're body is probably craving what it needs. How about some peanut butter smeared on some reduced fat wheat thins or celery? Or if you can control yourself, just a two straight spoonfuls (savor them). As for the crab salad, how about just a 1/4 cup? As with the peanut butter, savor it. Make yourself have a few sips of water between bites.

Any diet that deprives you of what you and your body want, is doomed unless you treat yourself from time to time.

    very low calorie diet....
give into your cravings as long as it's not huge! 1 or 2 little bits and also just a little bit of info for ya cravings only last for about 15 mins!!
so if you can resist for that long you will be ok....

Your body is craving what you are depriving it of (assuming that you mean a Very Low Calorie Diet). Just be VERY careful of committing to a VLCD as in my experience is that is may work well if you only have a few weeks before a special event but it does not work well as an ongoing lifestyle change. Everyone I know who has successfully used one; although they have amazing results and you loose a lot of weight. As soon as they stopped ALL the weight came straight back on (and in 2 cases ended up gaining more than they lost) as it was not sustainable as a long term plan.

It is your choice how you want to manage your weight loss but this is just the experience that I have found with both myself and friends that I thought I would share. Slowly but surely gives the body time to adjust, manages cravings as you are not so hungry all the time and also gives you the time to tone as you loose weight.

    Good luck on your journey.

Is that diet something you will be able to stick with forever? If not, rething how you are eating and maybe your cravings will stop.
Try Lower carbs that include only whole grains and no cookies, cake, pies, candy, soda, potato chips, pretzels and other high glycemic foods. Also if the crab salad is make with imitation crab, it contains a lot of sugars. If it is real crab it should not be too bad. Unless it contains non whole grain pasta?

This is a medically supervised/monitored Very Low Calorie Diet. Basically 'shakes and bars' and some nasty extras. Very un-natural, but at this stage it was medically necessary. We are trying get my BMI to about 30 before going back to 'real food'.

They don't encourage cheating or sneaking - now if I were to snack too much of the wrong thing - I'll get sick or loose ketosis. So that's been my incentive to stay with it. I understand I could snack something that was basically high protein and a little fat, the carbs would do me in though.

The crab salad is the imitation stuff - very good, but probably not good for you. I'm afraid one bite will lead to eating the whole container! The peanut butter has a lot of calories though...
