My thing is this:
You're not wanting to eat McD's because it's not good for you. Lots of fat and calories. Good choice!
But you're willing to feed it to your kid? Not cool.
Start your youngin' on a good road now. Skip the fast food crap and hit the park with a picnic.
^^^this ... Kids love picnics. If you're going to be tempted at least make it something worthwhile and McD's is not it!0 -
Fruit and Yogurt Parfaits are delicious and low in cals. Whenever I find myself at McDonalds... I get one of those instead of fries.0

Since we live in a town with pretty much only three fast food joints (McDonalds, BurgerKing, and Subway), we get invited to a lot of playdates at McD or BK. Especially in the winter (since BK has an indoor play place). We don't have malls, indoor rec places, indoor pools, or anything to go to play elsewhere when it's freezing. So I can totally relate and sometimes suggesting to the person who invited you to go someplace else doesn't always work. Or maybe it's 100+ degrees and you'd rather stay in an air conditioned place. So I know those places cannot always be avoided.
I like what some have said about eating some before you go - something healthy and enough to curb your hunger, plus lots of water. And even though they are more money, I try to get a salad (with grilled chicken) every time I go and ice water. Their salads are quite large and filling and then I get more veggies into my day. My favorite is the Southwest Salad (if you get grilled chicken and use the southwest salad dressing, it's 420 cals which isn't too bad for a lunch). I also like the Asian Salad a lot. You can always ask for no chicken on top, change to a different dressing like the lowfat Italian or Balsamic Vinegrette (which is the lowest cal dressing), or just use half of the dressing.
I'd skipped anything fried, especially french fries. For me, the cravings have gone way down for them over the last month. And order the apple slices for your kids so you don't smell their fries. Anyway, good luck! You can do it!0
