Sick after exercising

For the second time in a week I have been sick after exercising. I almost always workout as soon as i get up and I dont eat breakfast before hand. Could this be the problem? I've had pretty much the same routine for the past year and its never happened before.
Should I maybe try and eat something before hand?

I strongly suggest that you have to eat breakfast before you exercise or your body is gonna break and all that workout you do will mean nothing. You need proteins in the morning for your body to handle the workout.....:-)

I would. If my blood sugar gets too low, I get really queasy. Don't eat a meal, just a light snack. :drinker:
ETA: You might want to wait and eat your breakfast after your workout, because working out on a full stomach is not optimal, either. I know it really makes me sluggish. But do make sure you eat a little something before you work out.0 -
You might can try eating a cracker or a spoonful of peanut butter, just to get something on your stomach..
Could you possibly be pregnant and it be morning sickness?0 -
Sometimes it can be to do with oxygen levels being low, or you could be pushing yourself too hard.
I have only been sick once after exercise and that was after a school cross-country event when my competitive nature got the better of me and I ran my *kitten* off to beat two girls in front of me. Teachers put it down to lack of O2...0 -
have a banana before your workout and see if that helps. Theyre easily digested so you dont have to wait ages after eating either0

Good lord no chance of that
I tend not to eat before hand because I cant face eating as soon as I wake up but if i dont exercise as soon as i get up I tend to run out of time (two children... school runs... work etc) and by the evening I cant face it.
I will try having a banana or a cracker or something before I workout from tomorrow hopefully that will help. I just find it odd as I have had pretty much the same routine the past year and I was only doing JM30DS which I do alot so not as if i was over-exerting myself.
Thanks for your suggestions guys. Much appreciated :flowerforyou:0 -
maybe its just hormonal and will pass, or maybe youre coming down with something0

You NEED to eat breakfast regardless of if you're exercising or not. All that happens is your body will store all the fat from the first meal you eat as it isn't sure when it's going to get fed again. You'll lose more weight eating breakfast even though you're eating more.
As far as exercise goes, what fuel do you think your body is burning if you haven't put no food in it? It starts burning the protein you have in your body, namely muscle.0 -

I know what you mean about doing exercise as early as possible.... If I leave it I will never do it. Agree with banana as its pretty light and helps with cramps. Make sure you keep hydrated during workout, pause if you have to.0 -

At no point did I say i DIDNT eat breakfast just that I didnt eat it BEFORE i exercised. I eat once i've finished exercising with my children. It saves time and trust me there isnt enough of it....0 -
I always feel a million times better exercising later on in the day once I have had food. During the week, I work out once I am back from work (7pm)
At the weekend, sometimes I do work out on an empty stomach but I do notice I feel worse and cant put as much into my work out as at the end of the day
I would have a piece of fruit about 20-30 mins before working out and this should help you out0 -
I can't eat first thing either...thats why I get laughed at every day when I arrive at work with a box of cereal so totally know where you're coming from!
How would you feel about a shake or smoothie before the gym? that may settle your stomach slightly0 -
Hi Beccy! I'm totally with you! I go to the gym in the mornings before work simply because after work I'm sweaty and dirty and I'm not going to the gym covered in paint and sawdust and gunk! I'm definitely not a morning person and no way could I actually eat breakfast first thing! I did notice not feeling so great after my workout or not even really getting through it as well though. I started eating just half a banana on the way to the gym and it made a huge difference!0
