Homesteading support group?

I was hoping to find other homesteaders here to network with. I''m still a newbie and in the middle of my second year as an urban homesteader just outside Milwaukee, WI. My real reason for being here is to get in better shape so all the work I do to be a bit more self-sufficient isn't quite as hard on me.
I've been on the site since Mothers Day when a friend introduced me to it, but I haven't really been trying. I just reset my stats today and hope to get a move on. I work in the garden everyday and starting this week I also lead a group of volunteers to help grow food for the food pantry
So hopefully all that garden work and the Nike Training Club app will keep me moving. This time of year there's sure plenty of veggies to eat too.

We live on a few acres just outside a small town in Indiana. We have a big garden, fruit trees, and a small flock of chickens (a little smaller than normal actually since a racoon got in the hen house last week). I'm the main "farmer" since my husband works in the city and commutes every day. I have been mainly working toward a more self-sufficient lifestyle the last few years, but we recently bought the land behind us with a second barn, so I'm planning to expand a little and start selling some of my eggs and produce next year. Now if only I could buy that field next to us and start my pumpkin patch...lol
I'll be sending a friend request your way in just a minute!0 -
Thanks Jess! Sounds like a great setup. I'm fighting to get chickens allowed here, but now I just have my angora rabbits. I'd eventually like to save up so I can buy more land, but I really can't fit in the commute while working and going to school just yet anyway.0

I got a scale yesterday morning and I weighed the same as I had last time I'd gotten a chance to weigh at the gym. So at least I'm maintained the last couple months. This morning I was 2.5 down
I had the day off for my grandfathers funeral. Got out and worked in the garden and got the house cleaned up the rest of the day. Last night was the first work night for the food pantry garden I work at. A total of 12 folks showed up, including 3 of the new people I've recruited. So I spent 3 hours working there. Was so hot and tired after all that work that all I wanted was water and rest when I was done...so skipping dinner probably helped with that little weight dip.0 -
Just a little bump in case there are other self-sufficient sorts out there that have time to check in between canning sessions
Would love some more friends.
