I had sinus surgery on Friday, and before the surgery, they took my vitals. The nurse was a bit confused by my resting heart rate of 54. I told him I exercise a lot, and he said that's good. I looked up what that HR means, and it says I am an "athlete". Awesome!

Big victory to get below 60 RHR. The nurse was probably concerned because in a non athlete a low RHR is a sign of a serious health condition. If you do tons of cardio each week it’ll get even lower still (that’s not for me but it used to be). If yours gets much lower you’ll be having that discussion during every doctor’s visit.

Few people know about it but there is another heart condition related to excess cardio. It is called “Athletic Heart Syndrome”. It’s a real condition that shows up on an EKG and might also be alarming to the medical staff until you clue them in.

54?? Holy crap lol that's great. Mines at 60-64 resting and I barely work out so I'm very thankful to God and good genetics that my heart is happy. I just need to work on my blood pressure so I'm upping my working out demand.

Anyways!!! Congratulations on your amazing heart rate. :)
