Oily fish - good or bad for weightloss??

I am semi-vegetarian (I eat fish) & eat a variety a few times a week ie salmon, cod, prawns (all plain). I have always understood that oily fish is really good for you in lots of ways & most articles I have read encourage you to eat mackerel, sardines etc. I don't particularly eat a load of this kind of fish but do sometimes like a tin of mackerel or sardines with a salad at lunch.
Would like to know if people think this is better to avoid whilst I am still trying to lose weight (& perhaps take a supplement instead) as this type of fish seem to be quite high in fat (ie a 120g tin of sardines in tomato sauce is 198cals, 12g fat but 20g protein) and wait til I am maintaining. Or as it's not bad fat should I not worry about it as am eating it in moderation??
Cheers

198 calories and 20 grams of protein is very good. The fat is not that high either. I would eat if I liked it. I take supplements and eat other kinds of fish.0

The benefits outweigh the negatives. Learning moderation is the key not, not just weight loss, but maintaining that loss once it's gone. I say keep eating it within reason. :-)0

If you only eat seafood, you are a pescetarian, I know it sounds like a religion haha. I only eat seafood as well, I didn't know I was a pescetarian until I was like 2 years in haha0

Oily fish is one of the best things you could be eating. Fat does not make you fat. Fat makes you healthy, and the kind of fat found in oily fish is essential, and something our bodies need but cannot manufacture on it's own (hence the explosion of fish oil/omega 3 supplements).
It is high in protein, has good fats, and yummy! The types of fats you should worry about is your intake of trans fats. Enjoy your fish! (which reminds me, I want to go buy some salmon today!)0 -

Pescatarianism is the cult that believes, "Meat is murder, but fish is justifiable homicide."
Yes, oily fish is SO good for you and really not that high in calories. For adult women who are not pregnant, the recommended intake is at least one, and up to four portions a week. It is restricted to two portions for pregnant women due to fears over the build up of toxins including mercury.0 -
