Hi everyone! I'm a newbie here at MVP, and here is a little "About Me..." :)

At 26 years old, I am a middle school English teacher (got my Bachelor's in 2007 and my Master's in 2010), have been married to the most fantastic man [an electrical engineer] for 4 years, and am "mama" to our fur-baby - a darling lil' cavachon named Preston. Our little family lives in a shotgun-style house in the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky metropolitan area.

For fun, I enjoy traveling (even spent some time teaching abroad in Viet Nam), oil painting, reading fiction novels and The New Yorker, anything outdoorsy, writing poems, volunteering, playing chess, meditating, dancing, exploring different restaurants, listening to music, going out or staying in with friends, & attending museum exhibits, art displays, music shows... just to name "a few." Oh, and of course, exercising!

I've never suffered from an eating disorder nor do I have any health issues; however, I have been "underweight" all my life. Being tall (5'9") doesn't help either, and I used to be extremely insecure with my figure as a teen. However, as I've matured, I've learned not to take numbers (i.e. on the scale, BMI...) too seriously or let them lead me to believe that I am "unhealthy." This past year, I have worked with an incredible personal trainer who has taught me so much I didn't know about my body. She has helped foster within me well-balanced eating habits as well as the understanding of "muscle confusion" -- the need to constantly challenge [and thus, improve] my body. Also, as our bodies are always changing, so must our routines. Therefore, while I work out daily with aerobic and weight training exercises, I am also regularly seeking out and trying new activities such as biking, spinning, pilates, yoga, zumba, and more. I have created a MFP account to remind myself that I am being good (if not excellent) to my body so that I may look and feel my best throughout my entire life - from my youthful years to my [hopefully] old, old age. And no silly numbers will persuade me otherwise! ^_^
