Boggles the mind...

A recent study found that 95% of non-eating disordered women overestimate the size of their hips by 16% and their waists by 25%, yet the same women were able to correctly estimate the width of a box.
Our body image is so distorted whether bigger or smaller... How many of you look at yourself and recognize your true size. I've lost 27 lbs but I still see a fat me... When does that image change in our heads and what can you do to help get the true image to be seen.

I don't see my true size. When I look in the mirror I see me, when I catch a glimpse of a reflection of myself I'm always surprised that it's me.0

i don't see my true size either, when I look in the mirror all I can see is the flab I have from having my boys and the lovehandles/saddle bags I have, even though I am SO MUCH smaller than I was 9 months ago I still see myself as that bigger person sometimes.
although in the last 30 days my outlook has changed a little after buying some new clothes and I bought them at lane bryant (known here as the fat people store) and i had to get the smallest size of everything they carried and that was only a month ago and now all the shirts swallow me and they pants fit perfect when i tried them on and now they are a little loose. FEELS GREAT
but i will be waiting to by more clothes until i am done loosing weight0 -
I totally understand. Quite some time ago at my thinnest I weighed 135 and when I looked in the mirror I saw a 200+ person. I ballooned up to 215 and did not see a difference between 135 and 215. I look at pics of myself then and think where did I see fat.0

I once read it takes about 6 months for you to catch up to what size you currently are from a past size (up or down). So I figure until I hit my goal weight I'll never know what size I really am LOL.0

Don't be afraid to take those clothes to a seamstress and have the pants (at least) tacked in so that you can continue to show off your shrinking curves!0 -
I'm pretty sure I don't see my true size. Especially right now with having lost 28 pounds, my head still thinks I'm a 16 but my butt says "I'm a 12!" I do occasionally catch my reflection and it stops me because the person I see there isn't what I think I look like. I'm hoping my brain will catch up with my body at some point but the body isn't finished shrinking yet so it may be awhile.0
