I saw a post on here the other day that said they were going to reweigh the next day cause they had a hard workout and thought it caused a lot of water reteniton... does that happen? I'm so clueless with this stuff.

It can cause water retention because when you workout, you get micro tears in your muscles and water accumulates around the tears to help them heal. If you have done serious damage, you can hold water for a while! Hope this helps!

i wasnt sure either so i googled it, and it says yes you will, but to fix it... drink more water = sweating more when you work out. that part i know to be true, i used to not sweat much now i sweat buckets full lol cause i drink so much water my body will let more of what it was hold go. it know it will get more so it doesnt hold onto it anymore like it used too.

Yes it does, that is why it is not a wise choice to weigh on a day that you have worked out hard and had a lot of sweating.

I think everyone's different, but it happens with me. I don't usually weigh myself after a workout for this reason. I've noticed if I drink a lot of water after a work out I have a happier relationship with the scale a day later than if I drink only a couple glasses of water and call it a day.
  • That's good to know! I used to sweat very little while working out, and only on my face/head, but I have noticed recently that I am sweating a lot more and in more places. Maybe I'm now drinking a more sufficient amount of water. :)
