Hey everyone!! I've been calorie-counting using MFP for about a month and a half now, and so far I've lost about ten pounds. :) YAY!! So, anyway, I've gotten to the point where I try not only to lose weight, but to make healthier choices (because I see this not as a diet but a health intervention, I want to like myself for the rest of my life, I want to eat healthier and take better care of myself in general, blah blah blah.) And in the last two weeks, I've cut everything with sugar free additives out of my diet (because of course they can't be the healthiest thing to dump in my body and I was relying on them a bit too much), eaten more fruits and veggies, started drinking at least nine cups of agua a day, stuff like that. So I was wondering, what do you guys do to be healthier?

Exercise. I can lose weight no problem, but I want healthy bones, joints, muscles, and cardiovascular system.

Exercise (every day for a hour, it helps me mentally and physically), lots of water, lots of vitamins, at least 7 hours of sleep a night, and lots of fresh foods.

I'm not a coffee drinker and I try to stick with no calorie teas like green or jasmine teas. And when I want a change from just water, I use crystal light with about half water half perrier water or something low in calories to add some fizz. It's amazing how much drinks add to your calories. But water does get a bit boring. I eat off smaller plates so my plate looks fuller and looks like I'm eating alot, but it cuts down on your portions a lot.

For me, it's the simple task of keeping track of what I'm eating. I used to just eat, now I try to think before I eat. So, for example, when I knew I was going out to eat with a group of friends, I looked up the restaurant's menu online and figured out what I would order before I got to the restaurant. Instead of impulse ordering, I compared the "bang for the buck", or the "calories for the ingredients", and was able to order something entirely yummy and healthy.

I'm like you - I don't look at this as a diet, even though it is helping me lose weight. I'll continue to track even when I get down to "normal".
