So I really want to do a 5K. How do I find out where they are?

I think runnersworld.com has a good search function to find races.

I'd check with your local running stores... they usually have a list of ones happening in the area.

Might also check with your local community centers or YMCA's.

Also Active.com is a good source. It will search by region as well.

Active also sends out regular emails listing local and national events. I just got one this morning.

Another source I use is Competitor Magazine. It's a freebie at the running store and some local Jamba Juice stores, but it might be a regional publication.

Can also keep an eye out for local town festivals (see chamber of commerce websites, local papers, festival flyers as info about them may be found there). Often times they have races associated with them. Once you get to a race, they will likely have upcoming race flyers available somewhere by the finish line to help you find more to do!

    www.active.com

A good site where you can search for activities in and around your area.
