The All-American (Gut-busting) Slam "Breakfast"

I'm sure lots of us are familiar with this classic:

Some sort of heap of fried potato product.

3 eggs

2 slices of toast

2 pieces of bacon, sausafe, whatever salted and mashed up piece of protein you can imagine.

a little sprig of parsley that tells you it's healthy...

This was my "on the go" breakfast today at a place in Westwood. I figured "Hey, this isn't too bad, I've been up since 3 am, and I want something satisfying. How wrong I was. I am home now and STILL am hungry. After inputting the calories of my morning fare, I was astonished that I consumed over 700 calories. And all of it either fried, or starchy. Add to that my morning protein shake and piece of fruit, and I'm over a grand into the count for today....and it's not even 10am yet.

Now maybe for a real "Lumberjack" who will be out swinging an axe all day, this is fine. But for a desk-jockey like me, it's a killer.
I plan on taking some revenge exercise out on it today. Likely I'll go for a 10 mile walk or so. But I want those calories BACK.
I used to eat food like that all the time, and wonder why I was a giant roly-poly.
So we'll see what the exercise vs. food checks and balances say at the end of the day.. We'll see just who the boss is here...
Tomorrow's breakfast? Protein, Fruit, and Fresh Roasted and Ground Coffee. Yeah.

On occasion I meet my father for breakfast (it's his only outting now, he is elderly & frail). Of course, he always wants me to get whatever the big special, but at the same time he chides me for my weight. I have figured out that I do quite well with 2 poached eggs and either a slice of toast or english muffin. Not so many calories & I'm satisfied.

    NICE!
Yep that was a killer for so many of us, or the ol' Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Biscuit or 3 right? ;)

    Tomorrow's breakfast sounds awesome!

Oh yeah! Those things seem great because of protein and "healthy" carbs, but the grease and sodium make it awful for you. You could make something similar at home for WAY fewer calories (matter of fact, I did it yesterday after a 500 calorie workout). Good luck evening out your day, and if you don't, just remember it was one day. You can go back to normal tomorrow.

a good go to variation of this... frozen southern hasbrowns, egg whites, bacon bits, and fat free shredded cheddar cheese... throw it in the microwave for a couple minutes and you have a good filling breakfast with WAY less calories... sometimes I put spinach in it too just for that makes me feel oh so healthier glow lol

I am a boring breakfast eater. Every day it is either oatmeal with Truvia and sprouted no flour toast or an egg white omelette with one whole egg and two servings of egg whites with 1/4 cup mozzarella and made with 1/2 olive oil. I also add some fruit if I am still hungry. I usually drink water with it, but have to wait until I eat to drink the water or I get sick.

I guess to your breakfast I have to say that happens sometimes. Restaurants are hard to manage if you don't order fruit or oatmeal, because they use a lot of oil in everything. Good luck with your exercising
