An odd sensation...

Im now trying to eat MORE calories.

Its very odd.

For some reason my brain has latched onto the eat less, lose weight train. So much so that my metabolism has all but stopped. My BMR is around 3.1k with all the exercise i do, but im averaging around 1700 cal for the last few weeks. Im now no longer looking at healthy options, instead looking for things that are high calorie/low fat...which doesnt really seem to exist.

Due to the fact i cannot eat Veggies, and fruit is only when the mood takes me, is there anything i can do?

Also, how important is fat content? We all know less fat = win, but in the grand scheme of things, with me having to get more calories to get my metabolism going again, does it really matter if im over on my fat count?

Diary open...peek away :)

You actually need to eat some fat -- olive oil, avacado, nuts. These will all help you boost your calories. Just curious, why can't you eat any veggies? You will feel happier, more satisfied, and lose weight better if you eat some "good" fat every day.

What is wrong with fat in the diet? Unused Calories from carbs are stored as fat too.

I have just taken a quick peak at your diary and was wondering what your stats are if you don't mind me asking?

You are eating too many snacks. It's not all about the quantity of the calories but the quality of them. It's fine to have a bit of choccie to enjoy...I have done today...but I would try and cut down a little on the chocolate snacks.

Try and experiment with veggies...they can actually be extremely tasty when put together. Have a look at the recipe section of the forums for some ideas.

    Good Luck :flowerforyou:
  • You need fat to keep from getting constipated. You need 25 to 30 grams of fat daily for optimal body functioning; skin, bowels etc.

M, 6ft, 241lbs. I dont really want that many snacks, but i found myself at 11pm, still 500 cal down, so i was practically forcing myself, trying to get enough calories to get my metabolism going. I do Circuit training Tues, Competitive badminton wed, fri, sat, bowling and dancing on thurs, and gym on monday.

Trust me, over the last few months ive tried lots of veg, but they LITERALLY make me physically sick.

This is what im asking. If its all down to calories, does it really matter where they come from? I take my vitamin pill and cod liver oil tablet every day, so im getting my nutrients. My sodium is well within bounds too.

What i was doing was working, hence the loss over the last 10 weeks...but since ive upped my level of activity, but not my calories, the only answer is my metabolism has slowed/stopped...

Everything i see about this is always the same "Eat more veggies! Eat more fruit!" etc.

Since i cant, does that mean i should just give up now? :(

Noooo, don't give up! What about whole grains -- brown rice, 100% whole grain bread, wheat pasta, quinoa? What about beans and nuts and almonds? (Almonds are pretty great.) Do *all* veggies make you sick? Which have you tried?

Basically all "dinner veg", as it were.

My Breakfast, lunch and dinner combined are around 1000 calories. Therefore, ive got to find another 1200-1500 from snacks. Doing that puts my fat count over my limit.

All this is assuming the reason my weight loss has stopped IS because im not eating enough. Im not even sure of that anymore...
