So, I have a blocked saliva duct and eating is SUPER PAINFUL :(. It's been going on for over a week and usually it goes away on its own but it's not this time. I'm going back to the doc after a round of anti-biotics but I just don't even know what to do! I look like a freak my whole face hurts and I'm hungry and now upset. Has anyone had this before? What was done about it?

My dad has this problem... when it happens, he sucks on sour candy (as the dentist told him to) and it generally fixes itself in a few days.
  • Go out and buy some sour heads or other very sour candy and suck on it. Normally works well for our patients.

I've heard of sour sweets, lemon juice etc...something to do with the acids dissolving the stone or something

    .

I had to go to an ENT doc and have mine cut out; it was pretty big. He gave me antibiotics for a week to get the infection down and told me to suck on candy to try to get it to come out by itself. When it didn't he tried to dilate the duct to get it out but it wouldn't budge. So he cut the duct open and popped it out.
