At the recommendation of several people on here, I bought a heart rate monitor...I just took a very brisk walk (37 minutes) with my dog & it says I burned 324 calories....when I enter the time & MFP calculates the calories, it comes up with MUCH less.....which one do I trust? Obviously I like the heart rate monitor's # much better!

I'd go with the monitor. When I walk on the treadmill it has a higher reading than what the site says. I take a picture of the workout summary and use it.0

I'd trust the heart rate monitor if it's one with a chest strap.0

i'm sure the monitor is right; however, when in doubt, i always enter the lower caloric value to be safe, and that way i don't over-eat my activity-earned calories!0

I usually go with what the heart monitor says, or if I use a tredmill I go by what the machine says.0
