It doesn't have to be exact, just a rough estimate. Whatever the portion size is for one serving is what you should eat for breakfast. Like say 1 cup of cereal makes one serving, then you measure out a cup and enter in the calories accordingly. Hope I helped!0

That's where the nutrition information on the side of a box comes in handy...measure out one cup, look at the side of the box and there you go!0

read the box and see what a serving isit says like 1/2cup, 1 cup...I weigh everything so i know im doing it right.....it should also have the metric grams in () beside the cups.....example......1/2 cup (120g).....hope this helps0

I weigh my cereal - on the back of the pack it should tell you what the portion size is - in grams around 30 - 40 grams would be one portion - does that answer your question?
Not quite sure what a portion pot that you refer to is???0 -
i kinda understand.. ok.. so what colour pot. would i use,,0

A lot of cereals in the UK list the calorie content for a portion with milk... Usually 35g of cereal with 125 ml of milk... CHeck the packet to see what a portion is and make accordingly.
If in doubt have a look at the foods database and find the item you are wanting to eat to see what is listed as a portion.0 -
While your new and getting used to portions weigh and meausure most things - you will get a shock how big a portion really is! Measurments should be stated on the back of the pack including how much milk to add.0

After seeing something posted on here about estimating things rather than being accurate can potentially make you go over on calories by a substantial amount a week. I would weigh the cereal and the pack should tell you how much in calories or if not search on here through the database e.g 40g = 120cals and 125ml skimmed milk= 44cals0

Hopefully your portion pot came with a guidecard to help you with the right colour in relation to the serving size on your cereal. As far as measuring, until you get a good handle and eye of portions (1/2 cup, cup, ounces, etc), I would measure. I made the mistake when I started to estimate and my calories were always way off. I was amazed to see how little 1/4 cup of cheese is compared to what I thought it was!0
