Scared...

Can I just say that I LOVE MyFitnessPal . I've done a total 180 ever since I joined MFP. I just love the community and all the support and encouragement we all lend to each other. I was in my kickboxing class today and it hit me how GREAT I felt. I've gone days without binging and I feel alot happier. I've noticed I have alot more energy now that my body is stronger and I'm back on track. Before MFP, I would literally begin my diet one day, and then screw up.. eat too much and then I'd start again the next day. Everyday I kid myself that I'm going to change my diet completely but then I'd gorge on food and then reassure myself that I'm gonna start again the net day. That was my life up until last week. I realized that i can't change my diet overnight, it has to be a gradual process and to not deny myself if I'm really craving something.. as long as i don't go overboard. Right now, I have the mentality and I'm motivated to lose weight cause I recently joined MFP. But I fear, what if I go back to my old ways? What if this is just a phase? Will I ever revert back to the old me who couldn't help binging at night? I don't ever want to be that person again!!

It's good to think of this as a lifestyle change and not just a "diet." You are spending this time learning to eat with a mind towards your health. These lessons you can take with you. It isn't easy, but you can do it!

The longer you keep at this, the more natural it will be come. The key thing to remember is that when you mess up, don't beat yourself up about it, move on and start being healthy again! We all make mistakes and "binge" every once in awhile, but we just have to move on! It's when we don't move on that we return to those bad habits.

I totally agree with Gojira, what you have to do is make this your life, its for life.
The question people ask me the most these days is what diet am I on. After loosing 45lbs it shows and people are intrigued and honestly I'm on no diet, if I feel like having a ice cream and I have enough calories I will have it, I just changed the whole way I eat and go about life all together. I quit smoking (first decision), I changed my eating habits and I've introduced regular exercise and I feel better then ever before. Now I don't want to change this routine, no matter what happens in my life I will find a way of eating healthy and doing regular exercise forever.

It's a life long journey, and you're in the right direction. Your mind is a POWERFUL thing. You have to tell/remind yourself to make good decisions until it becomes a no brainer. You've done great so far, pat yourself on the back and don't be scared. We are all here cheering for you.

    Congrats and good luck!

I dare say everyone will go through this. We have a great result...maybe start thinking "ive done it" and start the dear of the "whats ifs"

I think the key is thinking that MFP is a long term tool.

I think im around 180 days right now, but i think i will be logging food fro years to come. on mfp or else where.

it not a diet here, I view it more as a control tool, and once i got my head around that my fear of backward steps went

Well done and keep up your work !
