Great news...I think my 12 year old "dreadmill" finally died!!!! That means I can justify getting an elliptical...yay!!!!!!! What kind do you have? I need to start researching it. My price range is $800 or less. I could go $1,000 but it would be a stretch. I saw what looked like a great one on HSN. Never ordered anything from there so not sure about it.

We've had a NordicTrack AudioStrider 800 for about 5 years. Its been a great machine. It was around $800 back then but with the popularity of the machines the prices have really come down. You could probably get a similar quality one for under $500 these days.

Honestly, I have the Gold's Gym elliptical from wal-mart and I paid $197 for it and it works really great... I'm totally happy with it. I know that's significantly below what you want to pay lol but I love it. :)

I got a really cheap one for £60 ($125). Sadly, the only thing I remember about the packaging is that is said Xtrainer on it :(
I've had it for about 4 years now, it's great!

We have a Pro Form elliptical. Bought it about 4-5 years ago. It does lie about cals burned though, by a lot! It more than doubles the actual calorie burn I get.

We have a Schwinn (not sure of the number off the top of my head) and it was about $800. It is sooooo great!! Great programs, lots of resistance levels, really smooth stride. You definitely need to go check them all out. You need to find one you are comfortable on so that you use it!! :D

try it before you buy it. I found some were weight restrictive, awkward stride length, or noisy. I ended up with a Schwinn that was under $450. Use it 3-4 days a week (off days I run). You should also look at the footprint of the machine. Does it require arm use? Forget the bells and whistles, cause if you don't like the machine...you wont use it.
